I did not see any study information, just what I presume is personal observation from less than three litters??? Ask me and any other breeder not to dock, do not tell me to not dock. For shame the person who amputated the tail without anesthesia and did not stop the bleeding, if you are going to amputate or dock, do so with proper care. BTW non docked tails have been in the poodle world for decades, with AKC Championships, including my own (Grand Champion also)most people could not tell the difference between the docked and undocked exhibits.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6517697125324333905.post-60421306910857420842013-12-10T20:21:54.709-08:002013-12-10T20:21:54.709-08:00It is good to read about breeders choosing not to ...It is good to read about breeders choosing not to mutilate their dogs. I had to pick two of my puppies when they were wet in order to save their tails and dews. My latest dog is from a breeder that met one of my undocked dogs. She stopped docking after meeting an undocked dog.<br />Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6517697125324333905.post-58374841672027694322013-12-10T12:59:44.098-08:002013-12-10T12:59:44.098-08:00I do not dock tails nor remove dewclaws for most o...I do not dock tails nor remove dewclaws for most of the reasons stated in your blog. This has not impeded my dogs for obtaining their championships. I think they move better too, and can see how they use their tails for balance when jumping and turning. Now when I see my old girls with short tails I cringe. Have had no problem putting Championships on, and the dogs move even better IMO, and look very balanced to me - now when I see my old short tailed girls I cringe.
